I need to write an essay for graduate program application. Where do I begin?
I'm an international student from Indonesia, and because I haven't wrote many essay in English before I really need suggestions about writing them. My special concern is the beginning. I just can't decide where to start. Can anybody help me? Few samples of the first sentences as references would be great!! Thanks!!

The basic format for a good Essay is a five paragraph format. You open your first sentence with something catchy. A question is always a good fall back if you can't come up with a good one. The last sentence in your first paragraph should be the thesis statement, in which you state the points you are going to discuss within the Essay. The body paragraphs (the middle three) contains you supporting details. Your closing paragraph should restate the thesis and sum up your entire essay.
