where is the cheapest and most interesting place to travel in asia?
me and a friend are going travelling for 1 month in march. we are form England.Were students so have a very low budget. (£800) where is the cheapest place in asia to go travelling and for flights? for example India, thailand, indonesia?

If you like all the spirituel stuff i think you should go to India or china (it's really cheap) if you like shopping i think you should go to malaysia, indonesia or singapoor

India is a bigger country than Thailand and Indonesia and it has more interesting cities and towns. You have to decide which place in India do you want to be in. In India, you have one of the eight wonders of the world and that is the Taj Mahal. A lot of Indians can speak English.

Thailand, The northern areas around Chaing Rai are cheap, rooms around 500 Bhat and up 1 US dollar = 34 Bhat food inexpensive too. Southern tourist areas are a LOT higher for rooms and food. Busses in Thailand are wonderfull the 1st class bus has hostess and snacks. Air fare can get expensive, and there is still cheap train travel here., But not all areas are served by train. Cambodia uses mostly US dollars now for the tourist areas, expect about $15.00 to $25.00 a night. Food is more expensive there than in Thailand and the trafick in Phnom Phen is the WORST!!!! If you go you have to go see S-21 prison Pol Pots torture prison! The photos and human skulls will make you really think just how good you really have it. Myanmar is a bit scarey but worth a day trip arcoss the border with Thailand up north in the golden triangle.

I've got many friends from UK who loves the Island they called their second home - Penang (Malaysia). It may not be as posh as Singapore, or advanced like Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) or Super-standard like Japan, yet Penang is the choice of many a Global travellers as it has a balance of many things, such as a unique heritage, nature, beaches, food (yes, best area to get the most delicious yet cheap cuisine in Malaysia!), shopping (may not be as many Kuala Lumpur, but hey, many loved shopping here in Penang, as bargains are possible in local retails and markets) and it multiculturalism (Penang Hokkien, a Chinese dialect now made fame for hereditary). Also, you have a choice of accommodations from YMCA/YWCA to motels, from hotels to resorts. Trishaws are famous here, same for the unique Peranakan (Baba-Nyonya or Straits Chinese) culture as well as the famous ferry, transporting people and vehicles between Weld Quay (Island Jetty) and Butterworth (Mainland).
