Did Barack Hussein Obama first become a Muslim when he attended Islamic school in Indonesia?

Did Barack Hussein Obama first become a Muslim when he attended Islamic school in Indonesia?
http://www.danielpipes.org/5354/confirmed-barack-obama-practiced-islam About Obama's time at a public elementary school, 1970-71, variously known as the Sekolah Dasar Nasional Menteng No. 1 or the Basuki school, Barker writes: When Obama attended 4th grade in 1971, Muslim children spent two hours a week studying Islam, and Christian children spent those two hours learning about the Christian religion. During a recent visit to this public school, Barker found that Weekly religious classes are required for all students, whether Muslims, Christians or Hindus, under the government curriculum. A new shiny mosque is in the corner of the courtyard. "The Muslims learn about Islam, prayer and religious activity," said Hardi Priyono, the vice principal for curriculum. "And for the Christians, during the religious class, they also have a special room teaching Christianity. It's always been like that." About Obama's step-father, Lolo Soetoro and his religiosity, Barker writes: In their first neighborhood, Obama occasionally followed his stepfather to the mosque for Friday prayers, a few neighbors said. But Soetoro usually was too busy working, first for the Indonesian army and later for a Western oil company. "Sometimes Lolo went to the mosque to pray, but he rarely socialized with people," said Fermina Katarina Sinaga, Obama's 3rd-grade teacher at the Catholic school, who lived near the family. "Rarely, Barry [a nickname for Barack] went to the mosque with Lolo." Barker learned from his friends and family that Lolo Soetoro, who died in 1987, was "much more of a free spirit than a devout Muslim" and "hardly the image of a pious Muslim." His nephew, Sonny Trisulo, 49, said Soetoro always liked women and alcohol. One of his health problems was a failing liver. "He loved drinking, was a smart and warm person, the naughtiest one in the family," Trisulo recalled. As for Zulfan Adi, cited in the Los Angeles Times piece: Zulfan Adi, a former neighborhood playmate of Obama's who has been cited in news reports as saying Obama regularly attended Friday prayers with Soetoro, told the Tribune he was not certain about that when pressed about his recollections. He only knew Obama for a few months, during 1970, when his family moved to the neighborhood. Does any of the above information from the Chicago Tribune article refute my analysis, as MMfA contends? It raises questions about two details in the Los Angeles Times account (the accuracy of the Catholic school's registration form and the reliability of Zulfan Adi as a source on Obama). But on the larger issue of Obama's religious practices during his Jakarta years, it confirms the Times account. Note in particular three excerpts from Barker's article: * "Interviews with dozens of former classmates, teachers, neighbors and friends show that Obama was not a regular practicing Muslim when he was in Indonesia" – implying he was an irregularly practicing Muslim. * "Obama occasionally followed his stepfather to the mosque for Friday prayers, a few neighbors said" – confirming that he did pray in the mosque. * "Obama's 3rd-grade teacher at the Catholic school, who lived near the family [said that] 'Rarely, Barry went to the mosque with Lolo'" – confirming that Obama attended mosque services. All this matters, for if Obama once was a Muslim, he is now what Islamic law calls a murtadd (apostate), an ex-Muslim converted to another religion who must be executed. Were he elected president of the United States, this status, clearly, would have large potential implications for his relationship with the Muslim world.

Proof that Obama was trained as a Muslim in childhood in Indonesia?

Proof that Obama was trained as a Muslim in childhood in Indonesia?
There have been documents from Obama's childhood school records that he was trained in Islam and that he was indeed a Muslim student. An author, worldnetdaily journalist Jerome R. Corsi, wrote a book called "The Obama Nation" in which he discusses the school registration of Obama as an Indonesian citizen and a Muslim student (pages 50-52) On pages 59-60, a former teacher stated that Obama had registered as a muslim and studied " mengaji" or recitation of the Quran, which is something that non-Muslims just don't do. Would anyone care to explain why Obama has never referred to this? And do we really want a "resident" with these dubious credentials? Jamie, Utopia and MO, you are fools of the highest order. Silly children playing with guns, so to speak. Muslims have a duty to uphold and defend the Quran, against all others, and the (p)resident has a duty to uphold the nation, blah, blah. Seems to me there is an obvious conflict of interest. But no, you insist that we take you by the hand, and for the umpteenth time, lead you down primrose lane, carefully explaining why little Susy Q should not play in the road, even when there are no cars. You are roadkill, simply put. Useless whiners and phat-pharm rejects. Your silly, lame excuses will be the death of us all. Galactic Princess, OK, so you are a space cadet, that fact is established. Jeffrey, instead of dodging the question, referring to my lack of email availablity, Could you at least have the fortitude to address the issue at hand, without hurting yourself, or is that too much to ask? I have the courage of my convictions, that does not neccesarily mean that my private life is an open door for anyone to waltz on in... Jeffrey, where do you live? whats your address? What job experience do you have? Are you married? Gay or straight? Got kids? where do they go to school? Too much off topic for ya? My point exactly. Plus, its none of my business. Get a clue.

Wow, that is really intolerant of you. The Quran is the Muslim equivalent of the Bible. As a Jew, I have read the Bible (including new testament), but that does not make me Christian, it just makes me more informed. I wish I had read the Quran to give me more perspective on the religion of Islam since it is something that so many people in this world believe in. It is certainly one of the top 5 most influential pieces of literature of all time, so don't you feel as though it might be worth reading? I have no idea if Obama has read it, but I would imagine it would only add to his credentials...

Lots of people have read the Koran you know among other books, I did hear and item on radio here in Ireland about this Cols chap, seems he never was in Malaysia found out these things on the internet and has no proof that the person he says was a former teacher was a teacher never mind was in Malaysia.
5 :
He never referred to them because at the beginning of his campaign because he denied it , and now its leaking .
6 :
So what if he was. It is not a crime to be Muslim. Can't people worship the religion of their choice? Also, can't people change their mind if something else makes more sense to them as the get older and begin thinking for themselves?

You sound just like the people who were taken in by the Red Scare of the 1950s. You were told by your leaders to fear certain groups. You were told that they were un-American and evil but you didn't know why. You just knew they were that way because that's what you were told. At that time, Muslims were perfectly fine with Americans. It was communists who weren't. In the past, politicians have also used immigrants, Native Americans, and non-whites as ways to generate fear of them and to generate public support for policies against them. Right now, it's the Muslims who are the whipping boys. In another 20 to 30 years, it will be another group entirely. It will be interesting to see which one it will be. You can call me names and tell me how silly I am but I'm not one of those who buys into such types of fear mongering, which is precisely what I'm seeing being used against Barack Obama. The truth is people don't want a black man as president but they won't admit it openly. So they go off on tangents about his religion or his nationality, both of which are coded forms of racism. People are afraid of having a president who isn't exactly like them.

If Obama wins, the mafia will own Washington: Tattered past, drugs, bars, unscrupulous friends (including William Ayers known boming terrorist) & (White-hating leader of Islam Farrakhan) Sleeper cell connections Secret friends with Islamic ties Trips to Pakistan, where we know Bin Ladin is hiding. "Organizer" of blacks, what does that mean. I haven't heard of an "organizer of whites" that was anything but trouble. Obamas Idol a "Chicago mob Mayor" Harold Washington. Syrian Tony Rezko, convicted of money laundering, bribery, developer and ties to mob. Formed Son of Islam. Obama knew him for 18 years. Rezko pulled Obama in a law firm representing phony non-profits, (funneling taxpayer money for the mafia Chicago machine). Don't kid, this Syrian guy was feeding Obama payola under the table and got caught. Knocked all candidates that were running against him off the ballot, very cut-throat Chicago mafia politics. Amiel Jones "political Godfather" In Chicago assembly he Votes "present" instead of Yes or No. (very uncommitted tap dancing). Patriot Act - voted NO -No wonder he doesn't like Feds "poking around" as he stated, he's tied to the mob machine. Rev. Wright's anti-american, pro Farrakhan statements hit too close to the radical Islamic beliefs. Also supports black liberation theology - WTF! Keep in mind, While Obama is rising under suspicious circumstances in Chicago's well known Mafia run politics, the judges, lawyers, polititians, and police were all fixing and arranging unscrupulous financial dealings, murders, corruption, money laundering of government funds. Alarm bells should go off in all honest citizens! Washington does not need more corruption or more mafia ties!

If you had the courage of your convictions, Luath, you would not hide your email address, nor your other questions and answers. It appears you want to be able to make your statements without having to defend them against someone who knows the truth, or who is at least capable of presenting cogent arguments and solid evidence, instead of scurrilous inuendo and demonstrable falsehoods. Addendum: First, I didn't ask you to provide personal details about yourself, and you know full well that I did not. All I asked is that you provide an email address. Mine is available. If you are going to come on this forum and post questions and answers, the least you could do is provide a means for interested parties to follow up with you. If you choose not to respond, you can always simply delete them. But I often find that it is the people who post the most ridiculous things who are unwilling to allow further discussion. Now, as to the "substance" of your question. You, and others of your ilk, are forever trying to "prove" that Obama was trained as a Muslim. So what if he were? Even if he had been trained in Islam as a child, that doesn't make him a Muslim now. Obama went to a school in Indonesia for four years, a school where he was certainly exposed to Islam, since that is the predominant religion in the country. I was "trained" as a Christian for much longer than that, but I am not a Christian. Even if Obama had been "technically" a Muslim as a child, he has been a Christian for the last twenty years. Assuming that Obama had actually been a practicing Muslim at some point, which by itself would not disqualify him to be president, do you not believe that a person can sincerely convert from one religion to another? Further, your assertion, or rather Corsi's, that memorizing the Koran, a practice that many Muslims follow, is something "that non-Muslims just don't do" is simply not true. It isn't common, to be sure, and even all Muslims don't accomplish it, but it is not unheard of for non-Muslims to do it. For instance, T. E. Lawrence, the British Army officer more commonly known as "Lawrence of Arabia," committed the Koran to memory, yet he was not himself a Muslim. Finally, why would Obama's knowledge of Islam, at whatever level that might exist, constitute "dubious credentials?" I am not being disingenuous here; I truly do not see why that would be a problem. You have made the assertion, now back it up with arguments I would not put too much stock in Corsi's book, if I were you, even if it does apparently reinforce your preconceived notions. His supposedly "well-documented" book is full of distortions and errors (I stop short of calling them "lies," since I think Corsi himself probably believes them). If you look at his footnotes, the majority refer to other works by Corsi himself, a practice which is generally not considered to be academically sound. Overall it is a hack job, a worthy successor to his equally falacious book about John Kerry.

Well, according to research and investigation by TIME magazine, Obama was studying in catholic school in Indonesia. I went to catholic school and believe me, they don't teach us mengaji at catholic school. Furthermore, in the years when Obama was in Indonesia, Indonesia was not like Indonesia nowadays. Muslim fundamentalist were mushrooming in Indonesia especially after 9/11 incident and Iraq attacks. Perhaps you should read the article yourself and please find more sources before any conclusion. Here is the path: http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1729524,00.html

The Norns have been the subject of a number of artistic depictions and references in modern culture, where the concept of the trio is more often used than the individual Norns, thus no depictions of Verðandi alone exist. The book series The Wyrd Museum features Verðandi as one of the three surviving Fates; known as Veronica she, along with her sisters Ursula (Urðr) and Celandine (Skuld) guard the last surviving root of Yggdrasil from the war-god Woden. The Japanese manga series Ah! My Goddess stars three norns, one of which is Belldandy, based on Verðandi. Verdandi, the name of a Swedish radical student organization founded in 1882 by Karl Staaff, derives its name from Verðandi.[4]

US F1 student visa application is refused pending additional required administrative processing?

US F1 student visa application is refused pending additional required administrative processing?
Hello, I wanna ask anybody here about my US VISA status as indicated above. I am Indonesian, but I took my VISA interview in Malaysia on 7th of June 2011. I took it in Malaysia because I was studying in a college there. This college provides an America's university transfer program that is not available in my home country. So, I have more clear information on how to apply F1 VISA in Malaysia than in Indonesia. I major in chemical engineering and I have been accepted into a university in USA. The interview was going alright. I was really confident about my preparation. I have answered all questions as clearly as I could. But, the interview was not long, approx. 3 minutes. The interviewer just asked me a few questions about my previous institution (in malaysia), about what kind of degree that I will receive later in US, he also asked about family &relatives, and my latest academic transcript. After that, he just said if they need to do additional required administrative processing. I also noticed that my interviewer didn't ask about my financial documents which I thought financial documents were very important documents to issue a visa. Furthermore, he didn't bother asking about my purposes to study in my future university or why I major in chemical engineering. He gave me a pink paper and my application and passport were returned back to me. The pink paper is stating a statement above and telling me to be patient and not to call them to inquire about my status of my case. He said, there is no fix time when I will be contacted. However, they will contact me as soon as my application is ready. The pink letter also tells me to drop off my passport and the letter to any of the five drop off location after I have been contacted. Now, I am a bit worry about my visa processing. I am afraid if I can't get my visa as soon as possible. I see most of my friends already got their f1 visa and booked their flights to US. Yet, I am still not sure about mine, and I can't do anything about it. In the mean time, I am back to Indonesia and waiting their call via email from here. I really hope I will be able to attend my school in this fall 2011. And the deadline to report to my school is this 21st of August 2011 ( as stated in my I-20). So, any thoughts about my current condition? and, what do you think if I book my flight now without my visa in my hand? Thank you so much upfront.

administrative processing can take weeks months or years ..there is no way of telling ..nor can you speed it up or ask for more info... its mostly a security based problem
2 :
I agree with Uncle and it would be unwise to book the flight before receiving your Visa.
3 :
I'm going for the visa interview too next Friday. I hope I will not experience the same problem because I'm also going at Fall 2011. I can understand your anxiety perfectly right now as I am imagining about myself next week.
